Mission of the Month for September: Cherish Our Children
Cherish Our Children is a national Lutheran ministry of prayer, education, relationship-building, and action to prevent child sexual exploitation. Nearly eighty ELCA congregations – including Our Saviour's – carry forth this ministry to serve the well-being of children in their own congregations and the community around them. It is estimated that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused prior to age 18. Cherish Our Children provides resources, training, and support to Lutherans who feel called to prevent child sexual exploitation. One example is the Wednesday Prayer, which is a weekly devotion/prayer which goes out to over 500 people.
